# Best Disc Golf Drivers for Beginners Source: https://discgolfnest.com/best/best-beginner-drivers Updated: 2026-10-02 Publisher: Disc Golf Nest. Our score is an editorial rating out of 10 (fit 35%, features 25%, build 20%, value 20%), not a customer rating. Method: https://discgolfnest.com/how-we-research#our-score Most new players start with a driver that is far too fast, then wonder why every throw dives left. A beginner-friendly driver is slower, lighter and slightly understable, which lets a developing arm get the disc flat and use its glide instead of fighting it. The flight numbers help here: lower speed means less arm required, higher glide means more free distance, and a negative turn number keeps the disc from fading out early. We weighted forgiveness and price over ceiling, because a first driver should teach a clean release rather than punish a rough one. The picks cover a light, easy fairway driver for players still building distance, a slightly firmer option for anyone improving quickly, and a durable choice for rocky or wooded courses. Baseline plastic keeps the cost down and breaks in faster, which is usually an advantage this early on. ## Picks ### 1.
