Which Disc Speed Should You Throw?
Throw a comfortable fairway driver or midrange in an open field and pace it out. Enter that distance to see which disc speeds fit.
Result
- Highest disc speed to use
- 9
- Stability
- Understable to straight
- Suggested weight
- 150-165 g
Beginners often get more distance from slower, lighter discs. Understable discs (negative turn) help at lower arm speeds.
How this calculator works
A common rule of thumb: under 200 ft, throw putters, mids and fairway drivers up to speed 7; 200-300 ft up to speed 9; 300-350 ft up to speed 11; beyond 350 ft distance drivers of speed 12 and above. Lighter weights (150-165 g) help slower arms.
