Glide
The flight number that rates how well a disc holds altitude and stays airborne during a throw.
Glide is the second flight number, typically rated from 1 to 7, and it describes how well a disc maintains lift and stays in the air once it is moving. A disc with high glide tends to float and cover extra ground late in the flight, while a low glide disc drops more directly once its initial momentum fades.
Glide matters most for distance and for players still building arm speed, because a disc that glides well can turn a mediocre throw into a respectable one by staying up longer. It also interacts with turn, since a high glide, understable disc can keep drifting right for a long time before it ever starts to fade back left, which is useful for beginners trying to maximize distance.
The trade off to watch for is control. High glide discs are forgiving on distance shots but can be harder to land accurately on shorter approach shots, where a lower glide, more predictable disc is often the better choice. A common mistake is picking every disc in a bag for maximum glide, which leaves a player with nothing but floaty, hard to control discs for tighter wooded shots.
