Anhyzer

An anhyzer is a release angle where the outside edge of the disc, relative to the thrower, is tilted up rather than down at the moment of release. For a right hand backhand throw, that means the left edge points up, which encourages the disc to turn and hold a rightward line for longer than a flat release would.

This release matters because it is the main way players extend a disc's natural turn, letting even a moderately stable disc bank noticeably right before fade eventually pulls it back left. Anhyzer lines are useful for going around obstacles on the right side, or for maximizing distance with an understable disc that is meant to turn over and finish nearly straight.

The common mistake is throwing an unintentional anhyzer, often from a grip or release timing issue, which can send a disc drifting far right of the intended line and into trouble. Anhyzer shots also demand more of a disc's stability rating than hyzer shots do, since an already understable disc thrown on a strong anhyzer angle can turn over completely and dive toward the ground.
